Horse racing API documentation

Every result, every runner, five nations.

HorseRacingAPI serves the official results of every race in the United States, Great Britain, Ireland (with Northern Ireland), France and South Africa since 1 January 2022, and every new result as it is declared. Each race comes with its conditions and every runner in finishing order, with the horse, jockey, trainer and owner.

It is a plain REST API: 19 GET endpoints answering JSON, one key in a header, our own stable ids that link every race to its meeting, course and people. People use it for results pages and apps, form tools, research, alerts, and assistants that answer questions about racing.

Every page here has the call, a Try it panel that runs it with your key, code in four languages, every parameter and field, and a real example answer.

One key, in X-API-Key or Authorization: Bearer, never in the address. Rotate it in your account; the old one works for a day.

One shape for every error, with a code that never changes and a message for people.

Pages on lists of known length, a sealed cursor on searches.

Rate limits

Headers on every answer show what is left this minute and in your allowance; /v1/usage shows it without using a call.

Every part checked every minute, with uptime and any incident written up.

How far back does it go?

To 1 January 2022, in all five nations, the year the United States began publishing the full finishing order. Nothing earlier is served. Results and races

How fresh are the results?

New results appear as they are declared. Every answer carries meta.data_as_of, so you always know how fresh it is. Results and races

What does the free key read?

Yesterday's results from all five nations, the nations, the courses and your usage: 4 endpoints, 50 calls a day, no card. Plans and limits

Are odds or breeding included?

No. No odds or prices of any kind, no sire, dam or breeding, no prize money and no bulk downloads, on any plan. Horses and jockeys

Why is a winning time empty?

Some nations do not publish one, or a race class. We leave it null rather than guess. Coverage

Can an assistant use it?
